This assignment was for me to interpret a imaginary scene from Canadian literature. I had to read a book and sum up the feeling in one photo. Margaret Williamson the Photo Editor from Canadian Geo Mag. picked the book Broken Ground by Jack Hodgins. This book was set in the early 1940's and talked about early settlers coming to the coast and marvelling at the ocean, trees and forests. I tried to have the image have a dated feeling like a old Kodachrome slide film stored in a box in a basement. One of these examples I shot was a black and white that
I hand coloured with marshall oils. The one they chose has a old faded Kodachrome feeling to it accomplished by using a Cokin Blue-Orange
polarizing filter on a dull day.
